Description |
This is a work in one movement, and although it is suitable for performance at the professional level, (perhaps as an encore item or an item in a concert of light music) it is approachable at a student quartet of a few years experience. The two outer sections are in a jazzy style with hints of the blues, and the central section is more in an Irish folk style, hence the title. Because of the light and dance-like feel of the music, I have left it unbowed - I feel that each different quartet may like to experiment with bowings, slurring and other interpretative ideas, and put their own 'stamp' on it. |
